New Arrivals: Ozark Bouzouki, Mandolin & Tenor Mandola
Share
We're delighted to introduce three outstanding new additions to our Ozark folk instrument range — a flatback bouzouki, a Portuguese style mandolin, and a Portuguese style tenor mandola. All three are handcrafted in Romania from solid wood throughout, offering exceptional tone, build quality, and value that's hard to match at this price point.
Why Solid Wood Matters
All three instruments are built with solid spruce tops and solid maple back and sides — no laminates, no shortcuts. Solid construction produces a richer, more complex tone than laminate alternatives, and crucially, it improves with age and playing. These are instruments that will reward you for years to come.
Ozark Flat Back Bouzouki
The Ozark Flat Back Bouzouki is an all-solid flat back bouzouki built to an excellent standard in Romania. It features a natural solid spruce top with a traditional inlaid escutcheon around the sound hole, solid maple back and sides in a mid-brown finish, and a maple neck with a slotted headstock fitted with good quality machine heads.
Tuned E-A-D-G in four double courses (4th tuning), it's perfectly suited to Irish and Celtic folk music, and the flatback design makes it comfortable to hold and play for extended sessions.
Specification:
- Natural solid spruce top
- Solid maple back and sides
- Maple neck with slotted headstock
- 23 frets
- Good quality machine tuning heads
- Scale length: 660mm
- Made in Romania

Ozark Flat Back Mandolin — Portuguese Style
The Ozark Flat Back Mandolin is a traditional Portuguese style flat back mandolin constructed from solid wood throughout. It has a solid natural spruce top with traditional inlaid escutcheon, solid maple back and sides, a maple neck with slotted headstock, and a maple and ebony bridge.
A quick note on the Portuguese style: although classed as a flat back mandolin, the back has a slight curve rather than being completely flat — this is quite different from a traditional round back mandolin, which has a much greater curvature. The result is a warm, smooth tone with excellent volume and projection, offering unbeatable value for an all-solid instrument.
Specification:
- Solid wood throughout
- Natural solid spruce top
- Solid maple back and sides
- Maple neck with slotted headstock
- Maple and ebony bridge
- 17 fret fingerboard
- Open plate geared tuners
- Scale length: 353mm
- Made in Romania

Ozark Portuguese Style Tenor Mandola
The Ozark Tenor Mandola is a Portuguese style tenor mandola made from solid wood throughout — solid natural spruce top with inlaid escutcheon, solid maple back and sides in a mid-brown finish, and a maple neck with slotted headstock. It's fitted with a chrome-plated tailpiece with cover and good quality tuners.
Tuned A-D-G-C in 4th intervals, the tenor mandola sits a fifth lower than a standard mandolin, producing a rich, warm voice that adds real depth to folk and acoustic ensembles. With a 400mm scale length and 19 fret fingerboard, it's a comfortable and rewarding instrument to play.
