Same Model, Different Story: How Our Stock Actually Works

Same Model, Different Story: How Our Stock Actually Works

It's one of our favourite things to hear in the shop — a customer walks in, spots something on the shelf, and says: "Oh, you've had that in for a while, haven't you?"

We always smile, because the answer is almost always: not quite.

New Stock: We Keep the Good Stuff Coming

We sell mainly brand new instruments. When we order stock, we order multiples of each item. If we stock a model — say, a particular beginner ukulele, a popular student guitar, or a brass instrument we know works well for learners — we reorder it regularly. So while the specific item on the shelf may have changed hands since your last visit, the model itself is one we keep coming back to because we believe in it.

Think of our shop less like a museum exhibit and more like a well-stocked kitchen: the olive oil might be a new bottle, but it's the same trusted brand we always reach for.

Second-Hand: Every Piece Is a One-Off

When it comes to our pre-owned and second-hand instruments, every single item is genuinely unique. That battered vintage acoustic with the repaired headstock? It came in once, and when it's gone, it's gone. The used snare drum with the character dents? Same story. Second-hand stock is a one-off by nature — no two are ever exactly alike, and once sold, that specific instrument won't be back.

So if you've been eyeing something in our second-hand section, don't wait too long. There's no reorder button on a 1970s Telecaster or a well-loved student violin.

Why It Matters

We think it's worth being transparent about this because it changes how you shop with us:

  • Seen a second-hand piece you love? Come in, try it, and if it's right — don't leave it to chance.
  • Looking for a specific new model? If we've stocked it before, there's a good chance we can get it again. Just ask.
  • Not sure which category something falls into? Our team will always tell you straight.
  • Seen something in our window when we are closed and don't want to miss out - we offer Click & Collect.

Whether you're after something with a bit of history or a fresh-out-of-the-box instrument, we're here to help you find the right fit — not just the right price tag.

Pop in and say hello. And yes, we know it looks like the same one.
