Frankly, anyone opening a retail store in 2026 without a strong online element is taking an unnecessary risk. It is not impossible to succeed — the right business, run by the right people, can make it work — but the combination of a quality physical presence and a well-managed online operation is a powerful one. We know, because we live it every day.

The 50/50 Split That Surprises People

At this point, the armchair experts might nod and say: "Ah, so the shop is just a storeroom for an online business." And they would be wrong again.

Our sales average out at roughly 50/50 between in-store and online. Neither channel dominates. Neither is a footnote. They feed each other in ways that a purely online or purely physical retailer simply cannot replicate.

Get them right, and a town like Alford is not a liability. It is an asset.
