The Ozark Appalachian dulcimer has a traditional, attractive hourglass shape with 4 'F' sound holes. This is a well-built instrument, constructed from a spruce laminated top and maple laminated back, sides, fingerboard and peghead.
Tuning is made easy with individual open gear-type machine tuning heads.
The Dulcimer is frequently used in many types of traditional folk music but has also crept in to many more contemporary styles.
Featuring four strings - double melody and two single course strings - there are many alternative tunings; we suggest (1st) DD-G-D (3rd). N.B. Treble (1st) is towards player on a Dulcimer.
